Incubating...
For years, I was consumed with doubt, which for too long kept me from making music, my love. Our new record is dying to meet you. I’ve been taking my time with its final stages and have expanded beyond music to get it out in the world (secrets are fun). It’s been incubating since 2018 and has been the hardest journey of my life to trust my deepest inner knowing—an inner knowing we all have and too often ignore. We think hiding will make us safe, but when we don’t let ourselves out and be fully seen we teach others to do the same. And we end up a bunch of scared children, threatened and provoked by someone who dares to be exposed in the face of our judgement and criticism. We end up making choices based on external forces, not the internal, and betray ourselves and our soul’s yearning. What choice enlarges you, and what choice diminishes you? What feeds your soul? You know the answer. I want to help build a world in which everyone can follow that soulful impulse, to bring their soul’s unique medicine to the world, where there is no external obstacle—racism, bigotry, poverty, lack of medical care, education, and other resources. We all must face something else—the inner obstacle—fear. Fear of disappointing, fear of embarrassment, fear of looking a fool. Being seen as we are is something I have admired in other artists and leaders for decades, and making music began my path of shedding all my masks gradually over time. I don’t think the shedding ever stops. What do you need to follow your inner impulse? What is in your way? I want to help build a community where we can meet each other in this way, help each other be our biggest selves, following what we are here to do, expressive, impactful, and generative. As we are within, so we are without. And this world needs it, needs us, needs this root of Love blooming in all of us. It only takes one person allowing themselves to be fully seen to awaken it in someone else. If it were not for @thisispattismith I don’t think I would have been brave enough to make my first record. Now 3 albums later, she is still my awakener. Who is your awakener? : @heatherevanssmith
The Third Album is on its Way...
Hey there!
It’s Catavelly Meowisson.
I mean, it’s Trashavelly Maggotson. Errr…it’s Splashavelly, More Sun!
No, it’s Cashavillain Mausoleum.
Good news! The third album is exiting the ether and will soon be a tangible object that you can hold, cook with, snorkel with, rock climb, parachute, or any other Covid-safe activity like my favs—not cleaning up, ignoring emails, and showering a second time because I ate too much bread again.
I am enamored with my band (Ryan MacLeod, Luke Payne, John Ray, Kevin Beck, and Chaisaray) and all the heart they put into this album during our week at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, NC last month. Even while masked, we managed to watch Roadhouse at the band house and practice our round house kicks like only the Swayze can inspire. Check out these photos our bassist John Ray took with a REAL camera!
We are in the mixing process now, and there’s still a whole shit ton of work to do. I’ve got a big, top-secret surprise too that I’ve been working on all summer to accompany this album. Expect all these goodies in early 2021, when we will have saved our republic by VOTING and VOTING EARLY in November!
I hope this album will bring you love in the vulnerable, tender way that only music can. Thank you for showing your need for music, loving music, and supporting musicians! If you have the means, reach out to a local musician you love and offer a few buckaroos.
Sending love and safety to you and your favorite people,
Cashavelly

Watch our 2020 NPR Tiny Desk Contest Video
I love Tiny Desk! So many of my favorite musicians I discovered through Tiny Desk, and the ones I already knew about, have given some of their most intimate, nuanced, and memorable performances at Tiny Desk. I dream to one day get to play there! Every year, we make a contest video. I’m especially excited because our song this year is from our upcoming third studio album, so it’s a sneak peek of what is to come. This past year has been absolutely transformative and expansive for me, and this song “Metamorphosis” embodies that, as well as the forthcoming album. The video was shot by my friend S. Cagney Gentry, who made us all look really fucking cool. He’s an amazing filmmaker whose films are visceral and powerful. Find out about them here. In this video, you’ll see my beautiful band members who I adore and who expand my songs in ways I could have never imagined or done alone. They are Ryan MacLeod (baritone), Luke Payne (slide guitar), John Daniel Ray (bass/ synth bass), Kevin Beck (synth), and Chaisary (drums). I hope you enjoy the video and song! And check out Tiny Desk!
